Sako Madjarian
Owner, Chef's Charcoal

Sako acquired Chef's Charcoal — a premium all-natural hardwood charcoal with a genuinely superior product: no additives, no fillers, no dyes, no chemical scents. It burns hotter, longer, and cleaner than anything sitting next to it on the shelf. The problem was that nobody could tell. The old website was a brochure filled with stock photos that didn't even show the actual product. There was no description of what made the charcoal different, no explanation of why the lack of additives mattered, and no language that helped a chef, a market buyer, or a backyard cook understand why this bag was worth choosing over the cheaper one beside it. The contact form existed but nobody used it. Without a story worth telling, Chef's Charcoal was being evaluated on price alone — and a premium product competing on price is a losing battle.

We partnered + built

We rebuilt everything — the brand, the website, the messaging, and the structure — from the ground up. We started by getting clear on what actually makes Chef's Charcoal exceptional: it is not about the charcoal itself, it is about what it does for the food. No additives means no interference. The ingredients deliver the flavor. The charcoal is professionally sorted and packed with clean pieces only — no bag full of dust. Burns hot and consistent across produce, poultry, meat, and everything in between. We built the site to speak to two distinct audiences: the home cook and the professional chef or wholesale buyer, each with their own clear path. Consumers can find a store or request an order. Restaurants, caterers, and markets can explore wholesale and retail supply directly. We added a request form designed to make it easy for buyers to approach their favorite grocers about carrying the product — turning customers into advocates. We also set Sako up with a professional email and oversaw the rebrand so that every touchpoint communicated the premium quality the product had always had. The results shifted the client mix entirely. High-end restaurants and markets are now reaching out to be supplied. Chef's Charcoal is no longer being compared to the next bag on the shelf. It is being sought out by the buyers who understand that what you put in the fire is just as important as what you put on the grill.
